1. Decide what it is you want your students to learn at centers.
2. Determine how many students you would like to have at each center.
3. Decide on the types of centers you would like to have in your classroom.
4. Determine a location for each center and gather needed materials.
5. Decide how long students will work at the center(s).
6. Decide how students will rotate through centers and plan a management system.
7. Plan how centers will be introduced to your students.
8. Begin centers by talking to the whole group explaining what is expected at each center.
9. Make a "Look Like/Sounds Like" chart and post at the center to remind students of procedures.
